Just like households, businesses are looking for ways to cut costs and increase revenue. As you probably know, it is the little things that count and you either earn more one penny at a time or you find that losing dollars started with the loss of a few cents here and there.
You lose money each time an employee speeds and operates company vehicles in a way that is less than fuel efficient. However, you also get the most for your money every time an employee obeys traffic laws and makes an on-time delivery. Actually, you get over and above money’s worth because safe driving and customer satisfaction today pays dividends in the future.
This is where GPS fleet tracking can help. GPS tracking systems do not simply record employee behavior; they also are an excellent record of company behavior. If you take the time to look at the overall picture provided by GPS tracker records, you’ll have a better idea of where you need to stop money from flowing out and how you can do more to make money flow in.
For example, maybe traffic on a certain side of town is eroding profit. When you look at the time of say you deliver there, you can make adjustments to the delivery schedule and save on fuel costs.
There are so many things you may not notice on a day-to-day basis that will become readily apparent when you can get a more global perspective on making stops and deliveries.
When you use a GPS vehicle tracking system from Rocky Mountain Tracking, you’ll be able to see how bundling deliveries or altering your schedules could maximize profits

The Wall Street Journal asked a psychologist who practices with a focus on parenting and relationships for her thoughts on tracking teens with GPS tracking systems. This expert said that teenagers need to earn their parents’ trust and this takes time. This expert did suggest that parents tell teens that their driving is being monitored, but surprisingly, she did not insist that parents tell teen drivers exactly how they are being monitored. For example if you tell your child that you will be installing a device to monitor them, they don’t have to know if it is for speed, seatbelt use or destination. If they break some of the driving guidelines you’ve set and you talk to them about it, they will then be aware of what is being monitored.
So if you are a parent who is thinking about buying a GPS teen tracking device to keep an eye on your teen, know that you are not being overly anxious or controlling.
As a parent, you know your child, so you have an idea of how responsible and trustworthy they are or are not. Still, no parent can really know what their child will do when they are not subject to parental guidance.
By the way, the woman and her daughter quoted in the article mentioned earlier are a prime example of just why teens need monitoring: this woman admonished her daughter to wear her seatbelt after a monitoring device informed her that her teen was not wearing a seatbelt. The daughter started to comply and got into an accident soon after. Her car flipped over, but she walked away unharmed because of her seatbelt.

Spring is here. Birds are chirping. It is getting warmer outside and the great outdoors beckons more now than it has for the last few months.
Prom and graduation season will be upon us before we know it. And if you are the parents of a teenager, you may already be hearing about your child’s plans to enjoy the warm weather and the company of friends.
No matter how wise your teen may seem, they are not yet ready to take on all of the responsibility of adulthood on their own. They still need you to provide guidance, no matter how much they protest that they are ready to take on the world by themselves.
GPS tracking devices are not difficult to install or use and they are a great way to give your child some freedom and give you some piece of mind. Tracking devices that monitor speed and seatbelt use can make all the difference in a young person’s life and in the life of their family. They give parents the ability to step in if they feel that their teen is not practicing safe driving habits.
And then there is that matter of where your teen may actually be going…GPS teen tracking devices can also provide information on where a vehicle has traveled and when.
It is possible that installing a tracking devices is the only step you need to take. Some teen drviers will be unwilling to take the risk of breaking the rules or driving in an unsafe manner if they know that their parents will find out. For others, the GPS auto tracker will give parents vital information that will allow them to take necessary steps to keep their child safe.

Now that the term “GPS” is a part of our everyday vocabulary, some of you may not think twice about what it really means. Perhaps for you the term “GPS” is the same as saying navigation. That is okay because if that’s how this particular technology shows up in your life, then you may not need a precise definition. But just in case you want a little bit of background about how it is that you can use a GPS tracker to keep up with vehicles, parcels, and the people using these things, here are some basics:
The letters “GPS” stand for Global Positioning System. The U.S. Department of Defense owns the system and makes it available for people anywhere in the world to use if they want. It has been fully operational since 1995.
The system consists of satellites that are in orbit more than ten thousand miles about the Earth and each one has a computer atomic clock and a radio. These satellites are spaced out so that no matter where you are on the planet, four of them will be stationed above the horizon.
The GPS receivers we use (such as tracking devices, cell phones, etc.) also have computers. The computers in our receivers triangulate to give data on their position after getting bearings from the GPS satellites about the Earth. Receivers can also give you information on speed and direction. This is why some GPS navigation tools are able to reconfigure directions, even when you get off course.
At first this system was used by scientists for research purposes, but now it is available to consumers for everyday use. Rocky Mountain Tracking has a great selection of GPS navigation and tracking tools to choose from. Now that you understand a little about how it all works, you’ll really appreciate the convenience of the Global Positioning System.

If you have had your vehicle or equipment stolen, you know that to say it is an inconvenience is an understatement. Having been through this, you definitely do not want to go through that again. If you have been fortunate enough not to have this occur, then you want to take measure to do what you can to make certain that it never happens to you.
Many of the security systems on the market make a lot of noise, but they are not sophisticated enough to deter really determined thieves, The thieves that really know the ins and outs of these systems are aware of their flaws and have found ways to get around them. It is sad to say, but professional thieves make it their business to keep themselves up to date on the latest advancements in their “line of work” the same way you do.
Using a GPS-based solution can give you much more protection and much more piece of mind. A GPS anti-theft tracking unit can tell you where your vehicle or equipment is in an instant if it is stolen. Depending on the GPS anti-theft tracking unit you choose, you will be able to get information about the location of your property, even if the thief cuts the battery cable.
The good news is that installing a GPS anti-theft tracking system not only keeps your property safer, it may also keep your insurance premiums down. Some companies give discounts to drivers and property owners who install these devices. You save money and you are much more likely to have your property stay right where you want it.

One county has decided to use GPS tracking to make sure that it knows the whereabouts of its most precious cargo: its schoolchildren. The entire state may follow its lead, making it easier to keep up with the comings and goings of children state-wide.
If you’ve ever seen the children’s book series The Magic Schoolbus, you know that the theme of these books and cartoon is about how a (sometimes shrinking) schoolbus can take the class aboard to places most people cannot go, like inside the Earth for instance.
Well, the Magic Schoolbus would be no match for this GPS tracking system.
One official said there have been very few complaints since the tracking system was added to the fleet of 175 buses. How often can the spokeperson for a school system say that?
The technology has increased awareness of what buses are in which spot when, while at the same time it has decreased paperwork for schoolbus drivers. With all of the stress of driving a bus loaded with students, these drivers must certainly welcome the thought of having one less duty to perform.
Tracking has also given the school district the added advantage of saving money on fuel costs. As cash-strapped as many school districts are, saving on fuel is a great relief as well.
For those who are in charge of the budget, being able to show the top brass that they have found a way to shave expenses is also a boon. They plan to do routine analyses to compare the usage and do even more to improve efficiency.

We already know that parents can use GPS tracking to keep up with their kids. And now, some child welfare workers in Florida are also using this technology to manage their caseload as they look out for the best interests of children in the child welfare system.
Now, before you ask, the child welfare system will not be outfitting all of the children in its jurisdiction with GPS tracking devices in their backpacks. Rather, they will be supplying caseworkers with tracking devices that they will use to file and track information.
Before this it could take up to 60 days to file paperwork. Now caseworkers can record data to indicate how long they’ve spent looking in on a family instantly. The system is set up to give alerts to let supervisors know if no one has been to see a family in a certain number of days. This should cut down on the numbers of instances where no one checks on children for inordinate amounts of time.
Caseworkers will be able to spend a lot more of their time actually visiting families and coordinating services. They won’t be stuck in the office filling out and filing paperwork. The tracking system should make the child welfare system in Florida much more efficient and help them keep much better track of the children in their care.
The new technology will also support caseworkers since supervisors will be able to send alerts to employees out in the field. If there is an update that they need to be aware of before they make a visit, they will not be in the dark. Whether it is to warn them of danger or to give them benign, but necessary information, GPS tracking will be a two-way conduit of communication.

You may already be aware of how GPS tracking can improve productivity, keep costs down and in general make sure your delivery service is more efficient, but have you considered how GPS tracking can help you keep your customers better informed?
Surely you have spent time at home waiting for a delivery or whiling away the hours until a repairperson arrives. We are all way too familiar with the famous 4-hour, 2-hour or even 8-hour windows that companies force upon us.
What if there was a way to let customers know that help was on the way sooner than expected? If you could do that you’d be a superhero. Why not let GPS tracking technology help you save the day?
You may not be able to give a customer an exact, on the minute ETA, but using your tracking systems you will have a much better idea of when someone will be there. Even if your employee will be arriving just on time and not early, you can still call a customer to let them know that someone will be there soon. This will also help you because even when they know you are on your way, some customers are not quite ready when you get there. It could be their low expectations or just general procrastination, either way, you will have done your part to make sure that the delivery or customer service call goes smoothly.
Customers are usually ready to be annoyed with delivery and repair service, especially when they have to wait, so this little extra courtesy will go a long way towards making them feel that you are concerned.
