GPS Tracking and Aging Parents

If you are part of the sandwich generation, that population of adults who are feeling the strain of caring for both their parents and their children, then you may appreciate what GPS tracking devices can do to lighten your load and put your mind at ease. We’ve mentioned the ways in which a GPS device can assist parents in keep track of children, and now we turn to the other part of the equation: GPS tracking devices can also help parents keep up with their parents and other older relatives.

After all the time they spent caring for you, the role reversal of having to care for parents can be jarring. But since it must be done, why not get technology on your side?

If you have a parent who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease or even a parent who can manage well, but is just a little forgetful, you may want to consider getting a GPS tracking device for them. This will assure you that you will know where they are at all times. If, for some reason, they should become lost or disoriented, you will be able to reach them quickly.

If your parents are still out and about driving themselves, but they have been known to get lost, then a GPS vehicle tracking device can help in that situation too. For seniors who are quite active, a GPS device to track your parents or a person in your care can act as a “just in case” tool, something that can act as a safeguard and something will be there in an emergency.

Homebuilders Use GPS Devices

A Dallas corporation that builds houses recently found out just how smart they were to hide GPS tracking devices in some of their equipment. The thieves who stole air-conditioning units from one of the corporation’s housing development also found out just how smart the company was too, but as you can imagine, they are not quite so appreciative.

The stolen air conditioners each have an estimated value of $2,000 and the thieves stole two of these large air-conditioning units. Some of you who run small businesses may imagine that a large corporation would not be concerned about losing that amount of money, but that simply is not the case. Lost money is lost money. In the same way any net gains, no matter how small add to your overall profit. Large businesses get that way by minimizing losses and using GPS tracking devices is one way to ensure that security of your assets and keep money in your coffers.

Corporation employees were able to track the stolen equipment thanks to the GPS tracking systems they had employed for that very reason. So when they contacted the police they were able to collaborate with them and retrieve the stolen equipment.

Not only are you affected as a business owner, you are affected as a consumer. Theft raises insurance rates. It also gets passed on to consumers as the cost of doing business rises.

We know you don’t want to have your property stolen (and we certainly don’t want that to happen either), but in the event that it does, a GPS equipment tracking system from RM Tracking can be the deciding factor in whether or not you catch a thief.

GPS Devices Can Help Track Autistic Children

One family in North Dakota decided to look into purchasing a GPS tracking device after their autistic son wandered away from the family while he was outside one day. A child without autism can also easily wander away and become lost and disoriented. This is a very frightening situation. But, as you can understand, the parents in this case were doubly panicked because their son does not have the communication skills that other children have. These parents actually have two sons with autism. So after the incident where one son was separated from the family, they started trying to find ways to make sure that they could keep all of their children safe.

It took an hour and a half, but the family’s missing son was eventually found. However, if you have lost your child for even one minute, you know that you can age a million years with worry in a very short amount of time. Children are also traumatized after being lost and even if they don’t say a lot about it, they tend to cling to their parents more after being found. And a child with autism who has limited communication skills will be affected in ways that they cannot necessarily express.

Children do wander off, on purpose or by accident. A parent may not be able to prevent this, but you can take measures to protect your child. Whether or not your children have special needs, you may still want to consider getting a GPS tracking system to keep up with their whereabouts. It can save you and them a lot of heartache and worry.

GPS Tracking Devices Save You Time and Money

You know what they say, “Time is money.” So if you can find a way to save both time and money, why not make the investment? A GPS device can do just that. Whether you manage a fleet of trucks or a household, a GPS system can assist you as you try to get things done. Because everyone has a bottom line and no one wants to see money fly out of the window due to poor planning. GPS tracking can make route planning easier and get you to where you want to go with fewer hassles.

If you live in an area with heavy traffic, you know that shaving a few minutes of driving time here and there means you spend less time on the road and more time doing the things you really want to do. Even if you are not in an area with heavy traffic, your time is valuable and you probably don’t want to spend more of it on the road than you have to.

A GPS fleet tracking system can give you the most efficient route to reach your destination. Not only will you save time, but you’ll also save on fuel. And that really is a big deal. As you try to combine errands and get the most out of a tank of gas, it only makes sense to make sure you are not taking some route that causes you to spend more time idling at traffic lights than necessary. A GPS tracking device can give you information on routes that you can travel with fewer stops and starts.

GPS Devices Monitor Driving Habits

Some commercial enterprises allow insurance companies access to data from GPS units inside their vehicles in order to qualify for discounts on their insurance rates. At the moment this type of discount is not being widely applied to individual drivers, but that could change in the future.

Think about it: right now your auto insurance rates are based on a number of criteria, including the number of claims you have filed with your insurance company. I don’t know about you, but there are many very good drivers who end up filing claims because of someone else’s negligence. A woman I know obeys the speed limit, follows traffic laws and overall is a respectful, careful driver. However, she has been rear-ended at stoplights twice. Through not fault of her own, her insurance rates went up, simply because she filed a claim.

The safe-driver discounts offered by most insurance companies are not based on what you do right; they are solely based on whether or not you have filed a claim. If insurance companies were to use GPS data to determine your rates, you might save a lot of money. GPS tracking devices can not only monitor speed, they can also provide data about hard brakes, turns and weaves.

Even if you are not willing to give an insurance company access to the data from your GPS system, this kind of information can still be very useful. A GPS teen tracking device can be used to monitor driving patterns within a household. You can make sure that your teen driver is not being reckless. But it is not just for teens, you may want to be assured that your spouse is not throwing caution to the wind. Or you may want to monitor yourself to see just how well you are driving.

RMT’s New Pet Tracking Solution

According to statistics, as many as 273 million pets get separated from their owners each year. You do not want your pet to be one of them. It is very easy for a pet to get lost, and although they may know their way home, something can prevent them from getting there. They may get injured or become so frightened that they lose sight of where they are. Even if a kind person who is willing to return your pet should find your animal friend, they may not be able to bring your pet back to you for any number of reasons.

Rocky Mountain Tracking is now selling the PT-200, a comprehensive pet tracking solution that works with RMT’s outstanding NavIQ web-based software program.

The PT-200 GPS tracker utilizes CDMA technology to provide reliable tracking in all environments, whether indoor, outdoor, in kennels, or in remote areas without requiring the use of an obtrusive antenna. All you have to do is slip the device inside the custom canvas pouch and attach it to your pet’s collar. The PT-200 weighs only 4.6 ounces and its compact size is only 3.31 x 1.75 x 1.0. It is small enough that a pet may not even notice it is there, tracking his/her every move. The PT-200’s rechargeable battery will last up to 21 days without being recharged. The accuracy of the device is within about 3 to 16 feet. But don’t be fooled by its small size. The PT-200 is a powerful device that can be used to keep up with animals large and small.

A GPS pet tracking device can give you the peace of mind to know that you can locate your pet if you need to. Rather than looking for your pet, you can spend time enjoying your pet’s companionship.

GPS Keeps Tabs on Construction Equipment

The world of construction is like any other field of work—the costs of doing business and buying equipment are going up. You know this and thieves know it too. This is why they will take any opportunity to make off with your equipment: either to use on their own construction projects or to sell it to someone else who is willing to look the other way in order to cut costs.

As much as your equipment costs, why not invest in it on the front end by using GPS tracking devices? The money you spend to ensure that you know where your equipment is will be well worth and much better use of your funds than replacing it would be should you find it missing.

Just as there are an array of options to tracking cars and more mobile objects, you have choices when it comes to how to keep track of heavy construction equipment. Depending on the type heavy equipment tracking system purchased you can track your equipment on a regular basis improving efficiency or you can purchase an on demand system that only tells you the location when you need it. You can even choose GPS tracking equipment that will tell you where your property is in the event that a thief takes it and cuts the battery cable.

By employing GPS tracking devices from RM Tracking, you can keep your property where you want it and keeping your customers happy because you won’t need to slow down because of lost equipment.

GPS Tracking Helps Parents

Keeping up with your child using a GPS tracking device is one way to put your mind at ease if you are worried about your child’s safety and wellbeing. These tracking devices are not a sign that you are paranoid because they are useful in several situations—not just in instances where the worst possible thing one can think of may occur.

No matter how vigilant you or your childcare provider may be, it is still possible for your child to wander off. A child who is out of sight may panic and realize just how close to you he or she is. Or a child who gets lost may think they can find they way back to where they were. In attempting to do this, the child may actually be going further and further away.

Or perhaps your child is old enough to be allowed to play alone or with friends out of sight. This doesn’t mean that you don’t want to know where they are. GPS technology continues to improve, so signals can be traced in many locations—including the ones where your child probably knows not to go. Signals can pass through a roof or window, through a garage, through the abandoned house down the street where you told your kid not to play….you get the picture.

A GPS tracking device can help you to locate a naughty child, just as it can help lead parents to an injured child. If you are a parent, nothing is more important to you than knowing that your child is safe and sound. A GPS vehicle tracking device is just one more tool in your toolkit for raising your kids.

GPS Tracking Helps Recover Stolen Property

A Cincinnati paper recently reported that a local man found himself behind bars after the police were able to find the truck he had stolen because it contained a GPS tracking device. The truck was not taken from a residence, but from a commercial enterprise.

The estimated value of the stolen truck was $100,000. And that was just the vehicle be itself. On top of that, there was about $70,000 worth of tools in that truck. When you factor in lost revenue, time and energy because the company would be short one of their vehicles, which they’d have to replace, plus the threat of higher insurance rates that looms any time you make a claim, you can see how the loss of this truck could end up being very expensive.

GPS tracking devices can help keep your property where you want it. If someone tries to take it, you will be able to find it quickly. Time is of the essence when it comes to matters like this. In this instance, the thief was a substance abuser and he may have damaged the truck by driving recklessly. In other instances, the thief is well aware of the value of the stolen property and will not waste time in selling off parts to the highest bidder.

If you are a business owner who counts on vehicles and equipment to get the job done, by all means get auto insurance. But you should also invest in GPS vehicle recovery devices. The insurance is valuable and necessary, but it helps after the fact. A GPS tracking device can assist you in making sure you don’t need to file an insurance claim.

GPS Tracking: There For You When You Need It

There are so many benefits to GPS tracking for businesses. When you manage your fleet with a GPS tracking system, you can save on fuel costs and other expenses that are related to vehicle maintenance. More efficient use of vehicles is one way to keep money in the coffers and reduce waste and needless expenses.

Another way that GPS tracking can enhance productivity is that it also makes good use of employee time. When you know where you are going and when you are able to plan better and make your routes and stops coordinate with the flow of traffic. You can even change course quickly if it is necessary. Let’s say that you find that you need to contact a driver and have them vary the route or make an extra stop for some reason—with A GPS tracking system you’ll know exactly where your drivers are and you’ll know who would be the best person to make the extra stop. You don’t have to call several employees to figure out who is where, with a GPS tracking system that keeps up with a driver in real time, you’ll know.

You’ll also know where an employee is in case of an emergency. Serious emergencies probably don’t occur too often, but it is good to know how to get a hold of someone or how to get to them if the unforeseen does happen. The safety and well-being of your employees is very important, since they are your most valuable asset. A GPS tracking system will help you to ensure that all is well.
