The RMT Rover

Last week, we talked about using GPS tracking devices for planning. Rocky Mountain Tracking offers a selection of devices that can do this. One of these is the RMT Rover.

With the RMT Rover, you can type in an address and quickly find the vehicle that is closest to that address.

Now is a great time to purchase the RMT Rover because it is now available at a reduced price. If you are especially eager to get started, you’ll really appreciate the same day shipping that we offer with the purchase of this product. Once you get the product, you can simply install it from any computer with internet access.

With the RMT Rover, you get all the advantages of GPS tracking with no activation fee. When you purchase the Rover, RMT provides your support and service. This gives you great flexibility because you can change your service plan by sending us a written request. Your service plan can be upgraded or downgraded at any time.

Each RMT Rover unit has a receiver, antenna and satellite. The information about the vehicles location and driving habits are relayed to a website through a cell phone tower. The information that is collected is not accessible from the vehicle itself. If you are interested in tracking employee habits, then the employees doing the driving cannot alter the information before it reaches you. They can, of course, change their driving habits, but they cannot access the information that is only available to you on the website.

The RMT Rover has other great features including:
·  Tri-Band GSM/GPRS, GPS Receiver, Data, Online Tracking, Data logging and more!
·  Unit will be activated within 24 hours of receiving activation form
·  Customizable software to meet your needs!
·  30 Second Updates

Visit Rocky Mountain Tracking online to learn more about the RMT Rover and other GPS tracking products.

GPS Tracking Helps With Planning and Scheduling

j0382573.jpgStudents on one college campus in North Carolina will find that GPS tracking can help them get to class on time–even when they don’t drive.

This is because their school has heard their cries of frustration about being able to predict the accuracy of the bus system. Even when they get to a stop on time, there is always the possibility that a bus is running early or late. The buses do their best to stick to a schedule. But as anyone who has tried to just keep themselves on a schedule knows, variables you cannot control change your plans.

Students can now go online and see a map that shows their buses location in real-time. This will help them to plan better and ensure that they will not miss their transportation.

Your business may not include transporting students. And you may not want to give your clients access to exactly where your vehicles are. However, you can use GPS tracking to keep your clients more informed. By tracking your vehicles, you can have a dispatch person call to let customers know that an employee will arrive soon. By using GPS tracking to keep up with your fleet, you can also handle the unexpected. Knowing where your vehicles are will allow you to assign last-minute runs to the nearest vehicle.

This kind of planning power will increase productivity and make your business more efficient. You can save time, money and gas with GPS tracking. Visit Rocky Mountain Tracking on the web to learn more.

GPS Tracking Can Help Counter Steep Fuel Costs

Fans of Star Trek remember how Captains Kirk and Jean Luc Picard and their crews were able to beam themselves down to whatever planet they needed to visit. Whatever fuel the Starship Enterprise ran on, they were at least able to save some money on transportation costs by having workers beam themselves to their missions.

We’ll get there one day, but until then you still need fuel to run your business. At the moment oil is about $140 a barrel and the price is still rising. It may even get to be $200 a barrel.

According to Brad Borst of Rocky Mountain Tracking (RMT), “With RMT’s numerous GPS tracking features, you can look forward to thousands of dollars in fuel savings every month.”

By using a GPS tracking system to track routing, you can make sure company vehicles take the shortes routes. This is great for when you have planned ahead. But what happens when you need to have an employee make an unexpected stop?

NavIQ, RMT’s flagship product, allows users to enter a destination address, find the closest vehicle to that address, and view a detailed map and text routes, with an option to search by fastest route and shortest route.

Borst estimates that a company with an average fleet of 10 vehicles can save as much as $8,000 per month by using a GPS tracking device.

Speaking of saving fuel, it will take zero gallons of gas to zip over to RMT’s website and look at the various GPS tracking devices and service plans they have to offer.

Racing with GPS Tracking

You are used to hearing about how GPS tracking can be used to prevent theft, improve productivity and keep family members safe. But you should know that there are an array of recreational uses for GPS tracking as well. It is not all serious. You can have fun with this technology, too.

Case in point, earlier this month, participants in the Race the Lobster event made use to GPS tracking devices to enhance the excitement surrounding the race. This race does not involve actually lobsters (although that would be interesting). It is an international unicycle event in which teams from around the globe race over a five day period.

With GPS tracking devices, it was possible to track and map the racers in real time. This way people all over the world were able to watch the race on the web. The family and friends of race participants who could not attend were still able to keep track of the racers as the traveled over the 800 kilometer stretch of the race.

There are GPS tracking devices that you can use to keep track of your own family, friends, employees and teens in real time as well. Hopefully, they are not racing through the streets, but if they are, you will know. Some tracking devices give you information in real time, while others list you download information once someone has stopped driving.

Visit Rocky Mountain Tracking on the web to learn more about how you can put GPS tracking to work for you.

More Reasons to Consider GPS Fleet Tracking

Earlier this week, we discussed now GPS tracking can lower a company’s costs for labor and fuel. Here are more reasons why your organization should invest in a GPS fleet tracking system:

A Break on Taxes and Insurance:
Certain businesses can not only benefit from lower fuel and labor costs by using GPS fleet tracking, they can also benefit from a break on their taxes. The 2008 Federal Economic Stimulus Act allows some businesses to use an accelerated depreciation schedule for GPS tracking systems. This act also raised the amount that a business can expense for purchases like GPS tracking systems. Check with a tax professional to see if your business qualifies.

In addition to getting a break on taxes, many companies find that insurance companies look favorably on the purchase of a GPS fleet tracking. If you are not aware that your insurance company offers discounts for vehicles with GPS tracking, inquire about it.

Increased Productivity:
GPS fleet tracking gives you important information about the complete picture of your business that you cannot always see when you are in the day-to-day grind. You can see who is driving where, who is completing the most deliveries and who is really a safe driver. This will help you make assignments, reassign duties and decide the future course of business activities.

Theft Prevention:
GPS tracking systems allow you do more to protect your vehicles and other assets. You can avoid the cost and hassle of theft. Or in the event that a theft still takes place, you can trace your property much faster with a GPS tracking system.

GPS Fleet Tracking Can Lower Costs

The demand for GPS fleet tracking has increased this year. If you have a fleet of many trucks or even just a few cars that you use for your business, consider GPS tracking. Here are some reason why your competition has decided to benefit from using fleet tracking and why you should invest in it as well:

1. Lower Labor Costs: Keeping track of employee time results in lowering abuse of overtime. Whether the abuse is intentional or not, monitoring stops makes a difference. You can pay employees for the actual time they spent working.

2. Lower Fuel Costs: One research company found that some fleets were able to cut fuel costs by about 13% after they started using GPS tracking. GPS tracking helps companies make the most efficient use of their vehicles. You can re-train your drivers to spend less time speeding and idling once GPS tracking lets you see how much money you lose to these activities.

3. Lower Prices for Tracking Systems: Once a technological product becomes popular, it costs less. At one time VCRs, CDs, and DVD players were all very high priced because they were new and unproven. Now that more and more people are adopting these technological innovations, they do not cost as much. The same thing has happened with GPS tracking systems.

Rocky Mountain Tracking has a variety of GPS tracking systems to choose from, so one is sure to fit your company’s needs and budget. Visit RM Tracking’s website today to learn more about fleet tracking.

GPS Tracking to Keep Trains on Track

The U.S. does not have the type of passenger rail system that Europe has, so sometimes it is easy to forget that trains are still a viable form of transportation. Instead of taking a lot of people where they want to go, our train system is active in transporting cargo all over the country. We really only think about trains where there is a derailment or some other accident.

In Australia, they are working to merge this old transportation method with new technology. A company is sent to sign a $90 million agreement to make a GPS train tracking system. The system will let train conductors know when another train is nearby, provide information on track work and give them suggestions on safe speeds.

Officials feel that the money set aside of the GPS train tracking system will be well spent because it will allow more trains to run and improve safety by helping the trains to stay within a safe distance of each other. This will prevent accidents.

A GPS tracking system can help improve your safety, even when other drivers on the road don’t have tracking systems of their own. You can get information about your driving habits or the driving habits of other drivers who use your vehicles. Then you can work on harmful patterns of speeding, fast accelerations and sudden brakes. Visit Rocky Mountain Tracking on the web to learn more about how a GPS tracking system can help you, your employees and your family be better drivers.

Use GPS to Monitor Driving, Save Money, Save Fuel

A GPS tracking device can not only help you save money, it can help you to “go green.” We at Rocky Mountain Tracking do not claim that driving itself is great for the environment, but we can say that safe driving goes a long way towards saving fuel and money. When you use a GPS tracking device to monitor the driving habits of your employees or your own driving habits, you will be able to see ways you can improve.

Speeding
When you drive really fast, you use more fuel. It is just that simple. Well, no not really. We all want to get where we want to go and we don’t want to get run over by other fast-moving cars. It is not likely that you or your employees will start to drive under the speed limit. You can however, stick close to it. Using the information from the GPS tracking device, you’ll be able to get a better idea of where and when you really put the pedal to the metal. This information can help you do more to get a handle on speeding.

Hard braking
sometimes it is necessary to come to a stop very quickly. At the other times, we end up having to stop quickly because we aren’t paying attention. when you retrieve information about driving habits in your vehicle(s), you can see just how often you or whoever is driving your car comes to a hard stop. Again, this will give you the opportunity to think about how you, your employee or relative can be a safer driver.

Quick acceleration
Getting into a car and taking off can be a lot of fun, but unless you’re on the Indy 500, there is no need to shoot out like a speeding bullet. If you or someone who is driving your car does this, you will want to be aware of this.

Visit Rocky Mountain Tracking to learn more about how a GPS tracking device can help you, your family or drivers you employ be safer on the road.

Court Admits Evidence from GPS Tracking

Those of you interested in tracking your spouse or in tracking a particular item should be very interested in this recent development regarding GPS tracking devices and court evidence.

As you may know, GPS tracking devices are not just used by private citizens, they are also used by law enforcement as well. And for a while there has been much debate about the legal and ethical ramifications of using such devices.  If you have a GPS tracking device in your car and it is used to locate the vehicle after it was stolen, that is one thing. It is another to use evidence from a GPS tracking device in a trial. Some of the questions surrounding GPS tracking devices and law enforcement have dealt with tricky issues like these.

Just last week, the Appelate Division of state Supreme Court in one state found that it was okay for the police to put GPS tracking devices on cars, as long as they are in plain sight. If the GPS tracking device is in plain sight, the information retrieved from it can be used in court. Evidence taken from GPS tracking devices that are hidden or not in plain sight would be inadmissible in court.

GPS tracking can aid in investigative or surveillance activities for criminal and civil cases
If you need to get information on someone’s habits or whereabouts, Rocky Mountain Tracking has several GPS devices you can use for investigative tracking. You can be instantly notified when the subject is within a certain proximity to a predetermined location. Or you can pinpoint the exact location of a person or of an item of interest.
