The more fuel you use, the more money gets taken away from your bottom line. Since gas costs are rising, you need to find ways to conserve fuel and keep the money you spend on fuel from leaving your hands.
The best way to stem a loss is to prevent it in the first place. Once you review fuel bills and notice that you are spending more and more for this very necessary part of your business, the best thing you can do it enact measures so stop it from continuing.
According to Brad Borst of Rocky Mountain Tracking, Inc. “A number of fuel-saving measures involve using a vehicle efficiently and wisely. With a GPS fleet tracking device, companies can ensure and enforce efficiency and wisdom of use with their vehicles.”

A GPS tracking device from Rocky Mountain Tracking will allow you to make note of speed and make sure your drivers do not waste gas (money) by speeding.
Here are Borst’s other tips for saving fuel:
1. Driving slower really does make a difference. Studies have shown that fuel economy drops by 17.1 percent as speeds increase from 50 mph to 70 mph.
2. Spend less time idling. Did you know that 15 minutes of idle time uses half a gallon of gasoline? Even 30 seconds of idle time uses more fuel than turning off and then turning on the engine.
3. Make sure your vehicles have clean air filters. This is not a part of vehicle maintenance that you should skip.
4. Keep your fleet’s tires fully inflated because fully inflated tires use up less fuel.
