When some people hear the words “personal tracking,” they picture an angry spouse following someone to a seedy motel. Surely, GPS tracking technology has been put to use that way, but there are so many more ways to used a GPS tracking device when it comes to keeping up with loved ones and family members.

Just asked Gene, an anguished man, who turned to a GPS tracking device to help save his girlfriend from drug addiction. She couldn’t help herself and Gene could not have succeeded in his quest to keep her from drugs on his own. Once a GPS tracking device from Rocky Mountain Tracking (RMT) was installed in his girlfriend’s car, Gene was able to see where she went. Information from the tracking device would have alerted him to any erratic driving behavior since the tracking device made note of her location, directions, speed and tracking history.
Most importantly, the tracking device alerted Gene to when his girlfriend want to buy drugs to feed her addictive habit. He was able to meet her at the locations where she would normally buy drugs.
“Gene is a perfect example of people who can put our GPS devices to innovative uses even in their private lives, to solve a particular problem,” says Brad Borst of Rocky Mountain Tracking. “Rocky Mountain Tracking’s numerous GPS tracking features enable precisely this kind of flexibility and innovation.”
While we admire Gene’s courageous efforts and are glad that he was able to use a gps tracker to help his girlfriend, we also advocate looking out for your personal safety. In Gene’s case his presence made it so that those who would have normally sold drugs to his girlfriend decided to avoid her instead.
In a press release from RMT, Gene said, “The bottom line was that I needed something to help me, and the Rover device did for me exactly what I needed,” says Gene. “The tracking device helped me help her, so that she could finally do what she had to, to save her own life.”
