Three people entered the Greater Cincinnati Credit Union on Tuesday morning in Oakley, Ohio. The suspects were armed and demanded money. They got an undisclosed amount of money and drove away in their vehicle.
To their surprise, the bank personnel had slipped a GPS vehicle tracking device in the money bag that was handed to the robbery suspects. The police tracked the money bag and caught up with the suspects while they were still driving in their get-away mission with the money.
When the police pursued after the vehicle, a chase ensued for some time. The suspects were finally apprehended and the money was recovered. Police may have solved an even bigger problem as two of the suspects match the description of another bank robbery that occurred a week prior to this incident at a different bank.
Had the bank personnel not put the GPS vehicle tracking device in the money bag, police may have never solved this case and the suspects may have gotten away with more robberies. Thanks to the credit of a quick thinking bank representative and GPS, this case is solved and the suspects are off the street.
I agree, but gps vehicle tracking technology is not new. It’s just that people, specifically businesses, have not all implemented it yet. It used to be too expensive, but over the past 5 years the price has really come down making it more affordable for everyone.
It’s about time something came along to crack these cases. It’s too bad that so many criminals have gotton away with multiple crimes before getting caught. Now, I hope this technology will put a stop to the career criminals.
I doubt they will figure it out. The only thing a robber is thinking about is making their escape with the money and without being caught. Some probably don’t even look in the bad until they get to their destination.
“Oh, I like this one. I hope they learned their lesson. If the banks all had gps, no bank would be robbed. Just like in other country’s where everyone carries a gun, there is almost no crime.”
What do you think will happen when the criminals figure out there is a gps in the money back and through it out the window?
Well, it definately wasn’t a navigation device. I don’t know of a navigation device that will track.
I wonder what kind of gps they used. I guess it wasn’t just a navigation device, right? It had to be a special type of GPS device that had tracking.
Oh, I like this one. I hope they learned their lesson. If the banks all had gps, no bank would be robbed. Just like in other country’s where everyone carries a gun, there is almost no crime.
I hope this incident will be an example to other criminals of what not to do. Technology is advanced. Even the smart ones only get away with it for so long before they make a mistake and get caught. Like they say, “Don’t commit the crime if you can’t do the time.” I really hope the judge gives them the maximum time for this one to make an example out of it.
This is an incredible story and good use of technology.
No, they never have been smart. If every bank would start using gps vehicle tracking technology, there’s no doubt that it would significantly reduce the number of bank robberies.
Criminals are not too smart these days, are they?
