When a child is kidnapped, many times there is little that the police can do because they have little evidence and few suspects. The parents of the child are left clinging to the hope that somehow their child will be located and brought home safely. But thanks to the technology of a new GPS tracking system, the missing child’s cell phone can be the answer.

Many parents give their children a cell phone for their safety. They want their child to be able to contact them whenever it is necessary and they want to be able to do the same. Many elementary school children have cell phones to keep them safe when playing in their neighborhood.

Since cell phones are already meant for safety, it is natural that parents would want to be able to locate their child through a GPS tracking system in their cell phone. In fact, this has already been used and has saved children’s lives.

Recently a 9 year old girl was allegedly kidnapped by her grandmother. What was originally supposed to be a weekend visit with the grandmother turned into a nightmare for the girl’s parents when both the child and the grandmother went missing. The parents called the authorities after the grandmother made threats that they would never see their daughter again.

Police officers tracked their movements with the girl’s cell phone. The cell phone could only place them in a general location of around 100 meters, which has been required of cell phone providers since 2005. However, this was still helpful to the authorities who tracked the grandmother and young girl from Massachusetts to Virginia. Finally, the police officers were able to figure out that they were most likely in a motel and the young girl was found.

A GPS tracking system can be the solution to many missing children, just as it was in the case of this 9 year old girl. As the technology gets better, cell phone providers will be able to track locations much more closely. However, for those who want this ability now, there are cell phones that have a better GPS tracking system. A cell phone with a GPS tracking system can be a means of great relief for parents. They can rest assured that they have the ability to easily locate their children to be sure that they are not in harm’s way.
