Transportation used to be fairly uniform. Everyone walked. Eventually, horses and carts began to be used, and at last cars, bicycles, and motorcycles appeared on the streets. Now people have many forms of transportation available to them. But with the new forms come new risks. Yes, you can travel farther and faster than before, but your transportation may also be an attraction for others who want to travel far and fast in your car – without paying for it.

Most of us would prefer to keep our current form of transportation rather than revert back to walking everywhere. If you live as far away from your workplace as I do – about sixteen miles – the idea of walking to work is not an encouraging one. So naturally, I want to keep my car. Some friends of mine bicycle to work each day, and they would rather not have to walk, either, even though they live closer to their workplace than I do. Keeping our different forms of transportation safe is possible through locked car doors, cable locks for bikes, and GPS tracking for any item.
With GPS Vehicle Tracking systems, any vehicle I choose to track can be monitored. If my car is stolen, I can have it tracked and recovered so that I am not stuck without my transportation. If my friends’ bicycles are stolen, they can likewise find them and be able to continue pedaling to work each day.
The University of Minnesota has recently started putting bait bicycles out because of the volume of bicycle theft on campus. Bait bikes are outfitted with GPS Vehicle Tracking systems, and, if stolen, can lead campus authorities directly to the bicycle thief. Bicycle theft on campus has already been reduced by about 30% since the program’s implementation. Many students are also putting GPS devices on their own bicycles so that, if stolen, they can recover their bikes rather than have to walk everywhere.
Bait cars are also used by police to track down car thieves. One bait car in Washington State was recently stolen and traced to the thief’s house. Many cars outfitted with GPS devices are recovered each year, even those which are not specifically bait cars. The GPS Vehicle Tracking systems allow police to find and recover the stolen vehicles the same way they do when using a bait car with GPS tracking.
So whether you drive a car or ride a bicycle, protect your transportation. Use GPS Vehicle Tracking systems to ensure that you won’t have to walk to work, school, or anywhere else you have to go.
