For some of us, traveling is just a dream, especially international traveling. I’ve been to numerous places in the United States, but I’ve never been overseas to some of the sites I would love to visit, although maybe someday I will. But for both those who travel and for family members who are left behind, traveling – whether in the country or to other countries and continents – can be a concern. Safety issues especially can at least cause both the traveler and family members anxiety in wondering whether the traveler will be safe.

One family in the United Kingdom found a simple way to solve this problem. When the nineteen-year-old son set out to go backpacking in Africa, Australia, and Thailand, his mother gave him a GPS tracking device to wear. Now she can know where he is and he doesn’t have to worry about his parents constantly checking up on him via phone.

With the GPS tracking device, the family members can visit a website to determine the location of the traveling son. The device is small and actually less intrusive than if he didn’t have it – otherwise he would have to be constantly calling his parents to let them know where he is and what he’s doing. This way, they can find out on their own and he can have relative independence while still giving his family members peace of mind.

His mother is especially grateful for the device, knowing that she can watch her son’s location and let him know if, for instance, he’s going into a dangerous area of town. Furthermore, if something does happen to him, say, being kidnapped, he can be traced and rescued based on the tracking information.

The son doesn’t even mind carrying the tracking device since it does provide him safety, and it also means that his mother won’t be constantly calling him or having him call her so that the rest of the family knows where he is and feels comfortable concerning his safety.

Maybe you’re just backpacking in the next state, or maybe you’re traveling across continents. No matter what your destination is, knowing that you are safe is a concern for both you and your family members, and a GPS tracking device can help provide safety, reduce anxiety, and make your trip peaceful and enjoyable.
