GPS technology is not just for cars and cell phones. This new technology can also be very helpful for serious runners. A GPS tracker can give an advanced runner many details about each run that will help the runner be consistent and improve his or her skill. Some things that a runner would want to keep careful track of would be distance and time as well as elevation.

There are many different kinds of GPS tracker watches that would work well for runners of all levels. Recording your run with a stopwatch and a map is more difficult than necessary, which is why these GPS tracker watches are so appealing. Beginning runners may want a simpler GPS tracker watch that records time and distance, while more advanced runners will want to take advantage of other features such as tracking elevation and altitude. The watch can keep track of inclines and declines as you run. This information can be very useful for serious runners, especially when used along with a heart rate monitor.

These GPS tracker watches are also available in a foot pod form. These trackers are attached to the shoe, which allows the system to also keep track of the runner’s length and pace of strides. Some of these GPS tracker watches are waterproof at a shallow depth and can also be converted to a handlebar mounted tracker for those who are interested in triathlons, which add swimming and biking into the race.

These GPS tracker watches are available from many of the top makers of GPS tracking systems. The more advanced systems are more expensive than the basic versions, but these systems can be invaluable for serious runners. When compared to other high tech gadgets that you might not use as often, these watches will most likely be used every day which makes it a more sensible purchase.

Serious runners who are training for marathons or triathlons need to keep careful records about their daily runs. Training for a race is a very difficult thing to do and it is important that runners are continuing to push themselves and doing more than they did the week before. One of these systems will make sure that they will be prepared when the competition time comes.

A GPS tracker in the form of a watch or food pod will allow these runners to adequately prepare themselves so that they will be able to run the race to the best of their ability.
