Keeping children safe from harm is a lot harder than it may seem. Even if you are presently doing everything within your power to keep your child safe, danger lurks around every corner. Keeping basic safety precautions in mind at all times is a great way to protect your child from possible harm.

However, child abduction statistics show that avoiding possible child abduction is not simple. Often, children are abducted by people that they know and trust. In addition, those children that are kidnapped by strangers are often close to a parent or babysitter when an incident occurs.
Here are some interesting child abduction statistics to think about:
•Nearly 260,000 children are abducted within the United States every year
•Around two children per day disappear
•Non-family abductions total 204,000 yearly
Aside from the fact that thousands of children go missing every year, many of those children are never sent home again. Those children that are released, or manage to escape, often experience some kind of trauma.
Nearly 16% of abducted children go through mental trauma. Around 7% of children are sexually abused during a kidnapping situation. Almost 8% of children abducted experience sever physically harm – most of the time, this type of abuse results in permanent physical injuries.
The question is: how can you keep your children safe? Make sure to keep your eye on a child at all times. If you have to turn away from a child, make sure that you have one hand upon them while you are looking in another direction.
Take the time to carefully screen every babysitter that you may be considering. Often, babysitters can also be child abductors. Another great way to ensure that your child will be safe from harm at all times is to track your child with the help of a GPS tracker.
Many GPS trackers are undetectable, and most of them can be easily slipped into a child’s backpack or clothing. If your child is taken from you, police will be able to find them with the help of a GPS tracker. Lastly, prepare your child for possible abduction.
If your child is old enough to communicate with you, make sure that they know where they live. Basic information such as your home address, phone number, and phone numbers of relatives will give your child a chance to phone home if they are abducted. Child abduction is a scary thing, but being prepared for abduction is a great way to ensure that your child will always be safe.
