Portable Advertising and GPS

If I wanted to, I could count the number of advertisements I see while driving to work. I haven’t bothered because I know there’s a lot. There are billboards, for instance, which try to catch my eye or the attention of my passengers. There may be advertisements on the sides of buildings, or even painted on cars or buses.

Vehicles provide advertisers with a unique opportunity to have a portable ‘billboard’ which may be able to get many more viewers than a typical billboard. But advertisers still want to find out what areas their billboards have been, and GPS vehicle tracking allows them to monitor the location of their mobile billboards.

Say a company has six vehicles that are painted to advertise the company. The vehicles will go about their regular activities, whether it is a bus route, courier service, or cleaning job, but the advertisements will be seen throughout the city. At least, that’s what the advertiser hopes. And it even has a way to find out where all its portable advertisements have been and in which areas, therefore, the advertisement has high or low visibility.

With GPS vehicle tracking, the company can find out where a vehicle is, where it has been, what stops it has made, and how long the vehicle was at each stop. A company advertising on a vehicle will be able to determine which streets the vehicle has driven on and can determine which areas of town have seen or have not seen the advertisement. By being able to track a vehicle’s route with GPS tracking, the advertiser will have a better grasp of the influence of a particular advertisement.

GPS vehicle tracking can also provide the advertiser with real time information, so it can monitor the current location of its portable advertisements. So the company with six advertising vehicles can find out if one of them is currently out of town, two more are parked off the street, one is near a shopping mall, one is driving down the freeway, and another is stuck in traffic at a busy intersection. GPS tracking can give the advertiser a lot of information about the visibility of its advertisement, which will help the company manage its resources effectively.

Advertisements are important to most companies, and having high visibility for an advertisement is a good way for a company to increase its business and profits. GPS vehicle tracking enables companies to make the best use of their portable advertisements.
