In Waukesha, Wisconsin, a theft ring has been busted in the on-going investigation into motorcycle thefts. Three men were arrested and a total of 15 motorcycles were recovered. It was believed that they stolen motorcycles were being re-sold in Chicago and on the Internet as well.

The key statistic here is that it took a year of investigation and probing in order to discover the identity of the perpetrators.
If there had been at least ONE GPS tracking device attached to one of the stolen motorcycles, then all of this could have been brought to a quicker resolution.
Motorcycles are sophisticated and expensive machines which makes them prime targets for theft and prime candidates for GPS tracking devices. And, because certain makes and models bring a hefty price, chop shops have sprung up in the effort to turn a quick profit.

All the more reason to connect a GPS Tracking device is that you can track your bike instantly in real-time. If your motorcycle is stolen, you can give the exact coordinates to police for almost instant recovery. In addition, you can set up geo-fencing boundaries that set off messages to an email box and text messaging to alert you to a breach in location.

You can move quickly, however, so that the thieves do not have time to take your bike to a chop shop and tear it down to the frame for re-sale.

If that is not enough reason to purchase an inexpensive GPS tracking device for your motorcycle, then consider the savings that you can obtain with a decrease in your insurance premiums. When GPS tracking devices are installed, insurance companies reduce their risk and so they are willing to lower your premiums in exchange.

Combine this with the fact that you can keep track of your trips that you make with your motorcycle. If you have a road bike for long distance travelling purposes, you can keep stats on your trip for later review. How many miles did you travel, and where were your stops and for how long did you stay? All of this can be used in a scrapbook of your trip for future reference.

The best practices of protecting your motorcycle still apply and have their place, but you also need an extra hand in helping reduce your vulnerability. That is why you need a GPS tracking device installed on your motorcycle. It is a decision that you will not regret.
