GPS trackers were initially created for the military. It is critical for the military to stay connected with all of its various troops on their missions. Family at home can check your exact location on the computer, and they will be on their way soon.

Along with outdoor sports, GPS trackers are also important to extreme jobs such as mining or hunting. In fact, in 2002, several miners were actually rescued from a collapsed mine. The miners were wearing real-time GPS trackers, and rescuers were able to locate them quickly and get them out. The fact that the military is an extreme job goes without saying.
