Top 8 Android Apps are Amazing!

We take a break from our normal GPS Tracking device articles to bring you another one on Android apps for the smartphones.  New technology makes our lives easier – pick the right app for your needs.

Android OS for SmartPhones

Reading reviews on top apps for Android-based smartphones can help you determine what you should be using on your own.  This one will focus on utility apps which are certainly not as ‘sexy’ as other categories of apps, but are nonetheless important.  So here we go:

TasKiller

Memory use is a critical thing with smartphones, so an app like TasKiller should have been part of the operating system.  But, with this app, you can kill apps in a second and free up available memory to run the next one that you need to use.  You will use it more than you think.

Weather Channel

Instead of turning on the television in the morning and having to cut through all of the boring talk, you can load this app and see at a glance what the weather is and will be for your day and ten days beyond.  The other great feature is that you can view active radar as well.

Softrace

Tracking your runs is just one of the features of this nice app.  You can also compete in a virtual setting with friends locally or across the nation, and even against your own past performances.  GPS tracking technology uses Google Maps and shows a nice detail of your run and your location. Your family can track you on another similar cell phone by becoming one of your race opponents. This app has many uses and will certainly help you become more focused with your exercise regimen. We also recommend our friends at OtterBox to protect your device when you are in rugged terrain. Their great solutions keep your device protected!

Astrid

Are you a ‘list maker?’  Does the term type ‘a’ personality describe you perfectly?  If so, you will like the Astrid app which is also known as Android Simple Task Recording Dashboard.  This great little organizer and list maker is simple to operate and gives you audio reminders, too.

Google Earth

Everyone needs a map now and again.  How great it is to have it at your fingertips anytime you need it.  Whether you are trying to find a great restaurant or just directions to your next destination, Google Earth is the premiere mapping software.  To have it in an app for Android-based smartphones is beyond smart.

Documents to Go

Datavis has been at this for a long time now, so you can expect the best performance and features that will allow you to open and/or edit Microsoft docs in a flash.  Perfect for the times that you do not have a PC sitting in front of you, or you’re just tired of staring at your laptop screen.

E-Ventr Lite

This ‘ok’ little app handles all of your meeting notices and allows you to create your next fun after-work party by setting it up and then inviting your friends.  So, that makes it better than ‘ok.’  The only downside to it is that all of your friends will have to have this app on their smartphones, too.  But it works with iPhone, Blackberry and all of your Android smartphones.

Tripit

The details in traveling can be maddening.  But the amount of paper doesn’t have to stack up.  Tripit gives you the tools you need to record confirmation numbers, destination addresses and phone numbers all in one place.  You can also put together an itinerary from the email confirmations that you receive.
