GPS navigation systems often have dry, pedantic computer voices speaking into their users ears. While some don’t mind these voices, many – particularly people without tin ears – find these voices incredibly grating and annoying. Even naming the computer voices clever names such as “Hannah” or “Charlie” isn’t enough to make the computer voices sound – well, less like computers.
While GPS manufacturers have attempted to rectify this problem for years by recording natural human voices for their GPS systems, none have attempted to do so by recruiting Flavor Flav, New York hip-hop artist and rapper known for his work with “Public Enemy.”
Until now.
Sure, some GPS navigation systems have attempted to use Snoop Dogg, no rapper has the presence and poise of Flavor Flav. Are you making good time? “Yeah, boyee!” This voice holds significance in that it is the first GPS navigation voice add-on that uses coarse language.
Will Andrew, CEO of Wanderlust Media, says, “Along with possessing an instantly recognizable voice and larger than life personality, Flavor Flav is a founding father of hip-hop and urban pioneer. He’s a natural fit for our NavTones brand of GPS voices, and we’re stoked to be able to put Flav out there to millions of drivers around the world.”
While the Flavor Flav voice addition is by no means a necessary add-on for GPS navigation systems, for rap fans the world over, it will be an entertaining addition to ther GPS navigation systems and GPS tracking systems. Individuals can purchase the Flavor Flav voice on Amazon.com for just under $10.00, and they can install it onto most GPS navigation systems.
