RoadCycling.com recently launched an iPhone application that will make bicycle training a breeze to track. The company has paired its existing training diary feature with the GPS tracking technology provided by the iPhone. The program will track distance and time in order to provide its users with comprehensive information about their progress and fitness.
Proper fitness training means never falling into any one routine. This is because the body can adjust to almost any exercise routine. For cyclists, this means constantly changing trails and making sure to push endurance limits.
One of the best ways to do this is by tracking one’s fitness routines, and the Training Peaks GPS tracking program does just that. Regular entries can provide a detailed report of overall progress towards fitness goals, and help to point out weaknesses in the routines.
As a promotion for the application’s launch, RoadCycling.com held a 48 hour sale on March 22, through March 23, 2011, when the TrainingPeaks GPS Cycle Tracker Pro application could be purchased for only $0.99. All proceeds of this sale will be donated to charities.
The earnings will be split evenly between the American Cancer Society’s DetermiNation, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s BikeMS programs.
The GPS tracking application was designed for cycling, but can also be used by runners and even walkers. The TrainingPeaks application will save route information, including miles covered, calories burned and more. This information can be sent directly from the iPhone to the RoadCycling.com Training Diary, or to friends via Facebook and Twitter.
An account with RoadCycling.com and an iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, or iPhone 4 is necessary to use the application. Signing up for the application is as easy as searching for the TrainingPeaks GPS Cycle Tracker Pro app in the iTunes store.
