Trimble has announced that Sprint is the first mobile network to offer a new GPS fleet tracking system, called Trimble GeoManager WorkManagement. The program helps companies better organize their mobile fleets by integrating GPS fleet tracking and better communication between dispatch and mobile employees, using Sprint smart devices. The program is aimed at reducing operating costs, increasing productivity and efficiency, and improving customer service.

Fleet Tracking

The program uses cloud computing technology to organize the fleets and scheduling on the dispatch side, which are connected to mobile devices used by the mobile employees. The machine-to-machine communication between dispatch and mobile fleets allows for efficient scheduling and last-minute changes, which are easily communicated to the employees.

The vice president of Sprint Emerging Solutions Group, Wayne Ward, explains “Trimble WorkManagement is a significant addition to Sprint’s connected transportation portfolio. Our field service customers now have a powerful new tool to help them complete more jobs more efficiently, while minimizing the costs of wasted fuel, overtime, or missed appointments.”

Pacific Telemanagement Services, offering vending services and public communication nationwide, is one of the first companies to use the GPS fleet tracking system offered by Trimble. “WorkManagement is helping make our company more efficient,” explains Justin Keane, Pacific Telemanagement Services’ vice president of business operations. He goes on to add, “We are saving on fuel costs, improving our drive-time efficiency and increasing our number of ticket closures.”

Trimble is a Sunnyvale, California based company, founded in 1978. They have been consistently applying advances in technology, such as GPS fleet tracking, to improve productivity for companies and government agencies that use mobile workers. Some of these services include surveying, fleet and asset management, public safety, emergency response teams, agriculture, and construction.
