The latest and greatest bike tracking application comes from Milan, Italy. Pirelli, already well-known in the cycling industry, recently announced the development of an iPhone App to help cyclers track their routes and performance. Pirelli are already the Official Tire Supplier of the Superbike World Championship, and hope to honor their company’s reputation of providing high quality products for bikers. The App is called the Diablo Super Biker and can be found on iTunes and Apple’s App Store.
The Diablo Super Biker App uses the iPhone’s GPS tracking technology to measure overall performance and speed. The application allows users to measure vast amounts of data from the basics of route tracking and distance, to more advanced data, such as their lean angle and corner speed. The best part may just be that the app is free. The only equipment necessary is the iPhone 4, with GPS tracking enabled.
There are literally dozens of free or inexpensive route tracking applications available to cyclists with smart phones. Part of the reason for this, is that there are so many people who enjoy bike riding and tracking their data. All these different people have unique preferences and reasons for tracking their rides. There may be one or two applications on the market that provide features for any cyclist, but it is more likely a user will be happy with an app that does only what he or she is interested in, rather than an app that does everything.
The Diablo Super Biker App is likely to be well-received in the cyclist community. This application has an edge, because it was made by a bicycle tire company, so the designers have a lot of experience talking to cyclists about what is important to them. The data is also easily shared on social networking sites, such as Facebook. This application is currently available in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German.
