TomTom: Internet Connectivity Now Possible Through GPS Device

Posted on August 30, 2011 in GPS Tracker, GPS Tracking, Navigation Device News | by Admin

TomTom recently announced a new navigation device, which promises a more comprehensive and user friendly travel guide. TomTom remains a top choice for GPS navigation, but there is always room for improvement. One of the main limitations of GPS navigation is that there is little information provided about the listed destinations. With GO LIVE 1535M, web services like Yelp, Expedia and Trip Advisor can help you choose the best hotel or restaurant, and also provide directions.

GO LIVE 1535M allows users to connect to the web directly from their GPS navigation device. The upgraded system can handle most travel needs, all from one device. Users can find and book hotels, read Yelp reviews, check weather forecasts and even local gas prices through the apps and services included in the GO LIVE 1535M navigation device. Whether you’re at home or across the country, users can open the Yelp app included in their TomTom LIVE device, and perform a keyword search based on location. Once the search results are displayed, users can read reviews, get directions and even call the facility they’ve searched for.

The device has similar apps for Twitter, Expedia and Trip Advisor. The Expedia and Trip Advisor apps allow users to compare hotel reviews and rates. The Twitter app is included for social media junkies. The GO LIVE 1535M can be set up to automatically tweet the time and check in upon arrival. The web service apps are also integrated into the POI search results, so users don’t need to go into the Expedia or Yelp apps to get basic information about pricing and reviews.

TomTom included one of their most valued features in the LIVE device. The Traffic Manifesto is still integrated in all navigation, to help users avoid traffic jams and delays. Once the GO LIVE apps have helped you choose the best place to go, TomTom’s reliable navigation will find the best route to take. The LIVE services are expected to be released in October 2011 for $249.99.
