50 year old Lawrence Brown thought for sure he had gotten away with the perfect crime. Brown stole $4,000 from a Bank of America location in Evanston, IL, in classic note-to-the-teller style, and escaping almost unnoticed on foot.
He did not, however, bank on the fact that tellers placed a GPS tracking device in one of the stacks of money he stuffed in his pockets. The FBI easily found Brown’s location, and arrested him in Chicago less than an hour later.
Brown was inside a blue van with a woman, the black knit hat he was seen wearing in the surveillance footage, and the note he used which read, “Don’t move. I have a gun. Top drawer money only.”
He is facing a bank robbery charge, and he could spend up to 20 years in federal prison.
