Jake Bramante completed a major goal: hiking the entire trail system of Glacier National Park in Montana, a total of 734 miles, which is not surprisingly tied into the name of his blog, hike734. People all over the world logged on to read about his travels and even watch videos of portions of this incredible journey.
The first official hike began on May 17st with the McDonald Creek trail and ending with the completion of the Lincoln Lake trail on October 15th. Along the way, Jake updated his Facebook page, blog, and tweeted fans to let them know where he was at and where he was headed, even providing a detailed schedule and video footage.
This allowed interested hikers to travel along with him when they were able, and watch the video when they couldn’t. Many hikers commented on his blog to show their support and make arrangements to meet up with him.
He is from Kalispell, MT, only a few miles from the park, and is the first person to have accomplished this feat. His blog features a “Track” link fans used to see his actual location via GPS tracking device he carried with him.
He says, in his final blog post of the journey: “I did it. It’s pretty surreal right now and definitely hasn’t sunk in that I’m all done with the hiking part of my project.” He goes on to give credit to his friends and family for their support along the way, and to fellow hikers and anyone who had given him assistance during his journey. He says, at the end of the post, “Don’t worry, hike734 isn’t over…We have a TON TON TON of great footage to share together.”
