Well-known telecommunications company, AT&T, recently announced that it will begin developing clothes of a different sort. The clothes that AT&T is interested in creating will provide wearers with vital health information. Through a tracking program, small devices attached to a pair of shorts or a shirt will transmit health details to a personalized website. As the wearer of this device runs, walks, or moves in any direction, the device will gather information.
Those who purchase AT&T clothing will be able to track their own (or another person’s) heart rate and other pertinent health details. If this sounds mind-blowingly futuristic, you might be surprised to learn that the NFL already provides players with similar clothing developed by Under Armour. So far, the Under Armour garments are proving to be helpful on the football field, and AT&T believes that the same technology can be used by the public at large — not only for athletes, but for anyone who may need to constant heart monitoring.
AT&T told press that the garments (now in development) will eventually be able to push data to smartphones as well as to a personal computer. Presently, there are a plethora of e-health devices, trackers, and websites that many people have become accustomed to. In many ways, AT&T is following this trend.
