Having a yard sale can be a great way to get rid of clothing and knickknacks that you don’t use anymore. But at a recent yard sale, one woman lost something she never would have sold. At this La Crescenta yard sale, one of the customers left with the homeowner’s cell phone.
The owner told police officers that she placed the cell phone, a Motorola Droid 3, on a storage bin while she helped a customer. She noticed that the $525 phone was missing around 2:45 pm.
The woman gave the police permission to use the GPS tracking system on her cell phone to attempt to locate it. This tracking system application is commonly used to locate both lost and stolen phones. After using this application, the police received the same address three times.
The police went to this Pasadena address and arrested Yesenia Sanchez, a 41 year old woman who was in possession of the missing phone. The woman admitted that she found the cell phone at the yard sale.
Thanks to GPS technology, the police were able to quickly and easily locate the missing phone and return it to its rightful owner.
