GPS Insight, a GPS tracking company, has been selected for the Red Herring Americas Top 100 Award. After successfully passing through two phases of review, the company was invited to the third phase and officially declared a winner on May 23, 2012.
The Red Herring Top 100 is a list of entrepreneurial companies that show great promise. Only technology or life science companies are considered, and they must be startup companies that are not yet listed on any exchanges and are privately owned. Currently, the award is offered in three geographic regions: the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Competition is tough, and the review process is intense. Everything from financial records to customer service to innovation is considered.
Following the first two steps of judging, over a thousand applicants for the Americas Top 100 are narrowed down to just two hundred companies. These finalists are invited to a conference in Santa Monica, California. This year, from May 21 to May 23, each company was able to present its vision and plans for the future. The winners were announced on May 23.
Of interest to us is the success of GPS Insight in this year’s competition. This company offers both fleet tracking and navigation equipment and technology. Insight’s customers have discovered firsthand the amazing benefits of a custom-tailored GPS tracking system for fleets. A system like this leads to greater time and fuel efficiency, lowering costs and enabling a company to serve its customers with increased speed and accuracy.
The founder and CEO of GPS Insight, Rob Donat, emphasized how tough the competition was and expressed his gratitude for being chosen. “Having done what GPS Insight has in terms of growth and product development over these past 7 years has been challenging,” he said, “and receiving an award such as this really reminds us that it has been significant and well worth all our team’s effort.” Alex Vieux, CEO of Red Herring, described what made GPS Insight stand out. “We believe GPS Insight embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture.”
This company’s selection for the Red Herring award is a clear indicator that the GPS market is growing as more and more businesses see the need to track their fleets. GPS tracking technology is becoming a must in the business world.
