Garmin International Inc., subsidiary of Garmin Ltd., has released the new zumo 350LM GPS navigation device. It is rugged and stylish, and features a high-resolution, glove friendly touchscreen display which is visible in sunlight, perfect for aiding motorcyclists get to their destination. It comes with both a motorcycle mount for the handle bars and a car dashboard mount, making it a breeze to switch over from bike to car.
“New features, like the Service History Log, lane assist with junction view and TrackBack are just a few of the reasons the zumo has become an essential tool for motorcyclists all over the world,” said Garmin‘s vice president of worldwide sales, Dan Bartel. “It’s lightweight, it includes lifetime map updates, transmits guidance information via compatible Bluetooth headsets/helmets, and can handle the toughest weather conditions.”
The zumo is more than a GPS navigation device. The Service History Log allows serious cruisers to record the date, mileage, and maintenance performed of their bikes. Tire changes, tire mileage, chain cleanings, oil changes, tire pressure, spark plugs – record it all using zumo.
The large touchscreen color display is protected by a cover that resists both UV rays and fuel spray. All of the information you might need while driving along is presented in an easy-to-read way, and the interface is glove-friendly, making entering destination information cooler than the breeze through your hair. Turn-by-turn spoken directions are clear and easy to understand, like “turn left on Easy Street” using either the built-in speaker headphone jack or through a Bluetooth compatible helmet or headset.
It is also BaseCamp compatible, allowing easier route planning for the next cruise. BaseCamp is a no-cost program from Garmin which allows the creation of waypoints, routes, and tracks on a user’s home computer. It is then transferred to the zumo. The “Track Draw” feature allows riders to see their planned route as well as any elevation changes along the way, alerting of the difficulty of the ride ahead. If you really enjoyed your cruise and want friends to try it out, send your route info to BaseCamp to share it with friends.
With lifetime map updates (both North American and European versions), you can ensure up-to-date mapping and accurate business information (restaurants, ATMs, gas stations, etc.) It features a premium navigation search bar making it a snap to find POIs along the way: start typing, and see results as you type making the experience faster and more intuitive. Assure proper speed with the speed limit indicator, and Exit Services will show you which gas stations, shops, restaurants and such are located at the upcoming exit. TrackBack allows riders to explore without restrictions: go off the beaten path and when you are ready to return to where you started, simply push a button and the GPS device will guide you there.
