GPS Tracking Keeps Woman Out of Harm’s Way

Posted on Friday 22 February 2008

We’ve mentioned that customers sometimes use GPS tracking devices to keep tabs on their spouses. As you can imagine, many of these situations are ones in which one spouse wants to catch another doing something dishonest. But there are situations in which families have used GPS tracking, not out of a desire to root out bad behavior, but out of concern for a loved one.

A real life story of a concerned family took place very recently when a technical support supervisor at Rocky Mountain Tracking got a call from a worried customer. This man was anxious because his mother was suicidal and he was not sure where she was. The family installed a GPS tracking device in the woman’s car to make sure that she did not do herself any harm.

The technical support supervisor was able to locate the woman’s car using NavIQ, a web-based GPS tracking software program. Rocky Mountain Tracking was able to keep both the family and the state police updated on the woman’s whereabouts. They were able to get to her before she could hurt herself. The family says that this was not the first time that they had made use of GPS tracking to find the woman.

When it comes to sensitive family matters, GPS tracking can assist in many ways. In this instance, having the device installed in the car meant that one man still has his wife and a son has not lost his mother.

For those who would say that GPS tracking devices are intrusive, I say that sometimes they can prevent horrible tragedies. This family is well aware that the woman in question has some things to overcome. For them, the GPS tracking device is one way of keep her safe, presumably as they work through some of their difficulties. What family wouldn’t want another chance to turn things around?
