By Greg Bartlett

People are always talking about money. They brag about how much they make and whine about how much gas costs. They search for the best deals on hotels and plane tickets. They trade their car in for a new one in spite of the large amount of money that they still owe on it. People talking about money is nothing new. But during the past year there has been a lot of talk about saving money. The current economy has everyone pinching pennies and cutting back. Many businesses are desperate for customers, drawing them in with sales, coupons, and advertisements.

But GPS trackers are still flying off the shelves. How can a company that sells pricy tracking devices still be in the black? How can their business be growing and flourishing when people are cutting back on the expensive extras in their budget.

The answer lies in the devices themselves. GPS trackers can be used for a wide variety of purposes and are helpful to an even wider variety of people. Every year new GPS trackers are released that will function in a new and different way to help yet another group of people.

GPS trackers save people money. That is the key to their popularity in spite of the country’s current economic situation. Businesses both small and large can save money by relying on GPS tracking devices in company vehicles to keep their employees honest and working hard. GPS trackers can also be used to make sure that shipments arrive on time and are not tampered with. A real time GPS tracking device in your car can shave some money off your insurance premiums because the insurance company knows that it will be easy for the police to locate your vehicle if it is stolen.

Although GPS trackers can be used in other ways to protect your children or document your travels, its money saving ability is the main reason that people across the country are making room in their budget to purchase a GPS tracking device.

The global economy is still waist-deep amidst a recession. Even though financial forecasters have been promising that the economy will get better soon, there is no definite end in sight quite yet. This hard truth has a lot of consumers searching for ways to save a penny or two.

Save Money

There are quite a few ways to go about saving money. You can cut out spending altogether by foregoing any social engagements or evenings out on the town, but this might be easier said than done. An alternative to this drastic method is to find ways to cut costs when it comes to monthly bills.
Begin by looking at your monthly utility bills. Do you have different companies for your television, internet, and cell phone? If so, you might want to consider looking for one company that can offer all of these services. Why?

Larger companies offer “bundle” packages that will save you up to $20 (at the very least) each month. Twenty dollars might not seem like a lot, but when that number is taken into yearly consideration, it actually winds up at a grand total of $240 saved per year.

Next, take a close look at those other monthly expenses. Things like house insurance and car insurance can be lowered as well. Home alarms, upgraded home fixtures (such as a new roof), and simply speaking with your home insurance provider can lower your home insurance costs.

Car insurance can be lowered by completing a few simple tasks. Some car insurance companies will lower your overall car insurance bill if you install a GPS tracker, have the various parts of your car engraved with special serial numbers (this especially applies to sports cars), or if you install some type of car alarm device.
If you can find a way to protect your car by using a GPS tracker or car alarm, then your car insurance company will lower your rates. These are simple things, but they can really make a difference when it comes to that car insurance bill.

Before you decide to modify your home or your car, make sure to ask your insurance providers about the ways that you can lower your insurance. Since all providers are different, these adjustments might vary from company to company.

In the end, there are numerous ways to save money during this global recession. While some of these things will take a bit of research (and possibly some upfront costs), they will be more than worth it in the end. After all, you work hard for your money – why not hold onto it?

By Greg Bartlett

In a world of lost jobs, rising prices, failing companies and economic stimulus packages, we are all looking for ways to cut costs. Businesses know that they must make adjustments if they are to survive the current economic storm and employees hope that they won’t be the next to receive a pink slip. Business owners who maintain a fleet of vehicles should be aware that they can significantly reduce costs simply by installing GPS tracking devices in each vehicle.

Fleet of Delivery Trucks Utalize GPS

GPS tracking devices operate by sending a signal from the transmitter, which is placed in the vehicle or on the object to be tracked, to a receiving device such as a personal computer. In this way, a single person can monitor the whereabouts of any given number of company owned vehicles throughout the workday. In addition, many devices can monitor fuel consumption, number and duration of stops, speed and idling time. This is invaluable information for a work supervisor as he looks for ways to reduce spending.

Companies that use GPS tracking devices report that if employees know their actions are being monitored, they are more likely to drive the speed limit, turn the engine off during a delivery, and drive directly to an off-site job rather than taking a personal detour. Small adjustments like these add up to huge financial savings over time. Collectively, we as a nation use billions of gallons of diesel fuel each year. Over one billion of those gallons are consumed by idling vehicles and at today’s gas prices that means over 5 billion dollars wasted in unnecessary fuel consumption. Individual companies can save thousands of dollars annually by asking each fleet vehicle driver to reduce idling time by as little as 15 minutes per day. In addition, drivers who are more conscientious about what they do on the clock report fewer overtime hours which can add up to big savings for employers.

GPS tracking devices provide a simple way for employers to reduce costs in troubled economic times. Though some may wonder if the initial investment will be worth it, those who have actually implemented GPS systems for their companies report that the systems pay for themselves many times over within a short time period. Business owners may not always be able to predict the fluctuations of a volatile market or the reactions of potential customers, but with GPS tracking devices, they can maintain a measure of control over employee habits that may be costing the company money.
