By James Neely

Now that warmer weather is here in the upper states, the heavy equipment will soon be rolling out in order to complete major and minor infrastructure improvements and repairs. With the deployment of your equipment comes the added need to fight back against theft of this equipment. How many times has the loss of equipment thrown the targeted completion dates off by significant amounts? The answer is ‘too many times.’

This is why a GPS Tracking system is a ‘must.’ Data tells us that only 10% of stolen equipment is ever recovered of the more than 70 pieces that is taken every day. Constant monitoring by one of these systems is no longer a luxury, it is now mandatory and equipment tracking via GPS technology is the solution. With these systems you can track the location of your equipment with pinpoint accuracy.

And, unfortunately, with the amount of cases that are on the desks of most police agencies, stolen equipment often falls to the bottom of the stack. Unless there is a method of tracking the whereabouts of an item instantly, it might never be recovered. Now that 10% lack of recovery makes a huge dent on your project, does it not?

Keep Track Instantly. Being able to watch in real time the activities of your equipment is a valuable tool for any agency or business. Not only can you know the exact location, but you can also track usage by hours or miles to supplement your preventive maintenance program. These two benefits alone make these GPS Tracking systems worth the cost, but there is more.

Insurance Costs Drop. You will benefit from lower premiums since the insurance company’s potential losses are cut with the use of these devices. Having one of these devices on every piece of equipment in the world would make the insurance industry very happy. This would cause the black market on which this equipment is sold to vanish very quickly resulting in fewer losses overall. It is good for both the owners and insurance companies as well.

What is more important than being able to keep a close watch on your equipment which resides mainly out of doors? You will be able to maintain a carefree and smoothly running operation all season long. And, at the end of the construction season, your garages will be full of the equipment that you took out when it began. Smart decisions like a GPS Tracking system make this possible. Do it – you will be glad you did.

<![endif]-->When we tell you that installing GPS tracking devices can save you money, many times we are referring to the savings you get when your vehicles are running more efficiently and there is less were and tear on them. The decrease in wear and tear means that your vehicles will need to be repaired less often and will last longer.

However, there are other ways in which GPS tracking systems can help you to save money that do not involve keeping your vehicles in good repair.

One Tampa Bay police department found that some of its officers were attempting to “save” the department money by using the vehicles less…however, they were still harging the department for hours that they did not work. So in reality, they were attempting to defraud their employer. The police department set out to investigate a number of its officers with them aim of getting to the bottom of suspected fraud.
After reviewing records from GPS tracking systems in conjunction with time cards, receipts for gas and records of surveillance, investigators found that four officers were being less than honest about the hours they were working. The investigation showed that one tenth of the officers who were investigated were not being truthful about the hours they were working. On the one hand it is good to know that a majority of the officers are not trying to get more pay than they deserve. Still, though with municipal budgets getting tightened everywhere, municipalities can’t afford to let money be siphoned away in this manner.

The four officers who were found to be padding their work logs with hours that they were not working no longer work for the police department. Three of them retired and one of them was fired.

On the other hand, GPS tracking technology does not only let you know when vehicles are not being used, it can also alert you to unauthorized use of company vehicles. With our software you can not only track but easily establish an alert system for events like a driver going outside of a designated area or staying idle for too long. Idle time and stops at unauthorized locations can become costly for your business; with a GPS system you can ensure that this does not become a problem.

Call Rocky Mountain Tracking at 877-477-9668 to speak with an expert about the GPS tracking system that will work best for your company and help you manage your fleet.

Considering they use such advanced technology, it’s amazing that GPS tracking systems are so darned reliable. But while GPS systems almost never conk out, the same can’t be said for the vehicles they accompany.

After taking the plunge and buying a new car, it can be devastating to find out that the vehicle has problems that seemingly can’t be fixed. Everyday, I listen to the frustrations of clients who have taken their new cars in for repair time and time again, only to have the problem resurface. Thankfully, lemon law lawyers across the country can count on a variety of state and federal laws to help their clients get justice.

Basically, there are three things people need to know about lemon laws. First, every state has a different lemon law on the books, so it’s important to know the criteria that define a lemon in your state. For example, some states cover only new vehicles, while others cover both new and used cars. Similarly, some states only cover vehicles for the first year or 12,000 miles on the odometers, while other states have a longer coverage period.

Second, consumers need to be conscientious in their documentation, as this can be a tremendous help in establishing a case. You should jot down the days, times, and circumstances when your car has a problem; the days you take it in for service; and notes about any conversations you have with the dealer or manufacturer. You should also keep copies of written records, like repair orders and correspondence.

Finally, with the help of a lemon law attorney, consumers should be able to get either a refund or replacement for a defective vehicle. Even if your car doesn’t meet the stringent definitions of your state’s lemon law, you can often get a financial settlement by using other state and federal laws designed to protect consumers.

So, while you’ll most likely never run across a GPS tracking device lemon, it’s good to know that the law is on your side when you buy a new vehicle.

Earlier this week we talked about how GPS can help improve customer service. But you may have other questions, such as, “How can GPS tracking help me make the most of my resources?”

Well, we at Rocky Mountain Tracking (RMT) are so glad that you asked that question.

GPS tracking can increase productivity
With GPS tracking, drivers and dispatchers can communicate with ease. If your dispatchers know where a driver is, they can easily give that person additional instructions, if needed. Dispatchers will not have to call around to figure out who is where, they will already know. This can be a great help when you find that you need someone to make an extra pick up.

GPS tracking can save you money on fuel
Even with the slight dip that we have seen in gas prices, we are becoming all too accustomed to paying rather high prices for gasoline. When you insall GPS tracking devices on your company vehicles, you will be able to monitor your drivers’ habits on the road. Then you can figure out how they can drive in ways that use less gas if they have wasteful driving habits. Plus, GPS tracking allows for more efficient route planning. Your vehicles will use less gas because there will be no guessing or making unecessary turns.

GPS tracking can help you watch out for your employees
If for some reason, one of your drivers is in danger, GPS tracking technology will help you locate that person quickly. Should an employee become ill, you can dispatch help immediately. Being able to monitor the location of your vehicles with GPS tracking means that you will be aware if something goes awry with a routine delivery of pick up.

GPS tracking can help reduce the wear and tear on your vehicles
When you install GPS tracking devices to help you plan routes, save fuel, and monitor driving habits, you are taking a step to protect the investment you have made in your vehicles. Making sure that your drivers use less fuel and driving more efficiently are two ways that you can make certain that your vehicles last longer and need fewer repairs. But it would be hard to monitor driving habits and maximize route planning all on your own. And this is where GPS tracking and RMT come in to the picture.

No doubt you do a great job managing your fleet and your employees, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t need a little extra help. You can visit the RMT website from information and then call Rocky Mountain Tracking toll free (877) 477-9668 to speak to someone who can help you decide with GPS tracking product will work best for you.

You may already be aware of how GPS tracking can improve productivity, keep costs down and in general make sure your delivery service is more efficient, but have you considered how GPS tracking can help you keep your customers better informed?

Surely you have spent time at home waiting for a delivery or whiling away the hours until a repairperson arrives. We are all way too familiar with the famous 4-hour, 2-hour or even 8-hour windows that companies force upon us.

What if there was a way to let customers know that help was on the way sooner than expected? If you could do that you’d be a superhero. Why not let GPS tracking technology help you save the day?

You may not be able to give a customer an exact, on the minute ETA, but using your tracking systems you will have a much better idea of when someone will be there. Even if your employee will be arriving just on time and not early, you can still call a customer to let them know that someone will be there soon. This will also help you because even when they know you are on your way, some customers are not quite ready when you get there. It could be their low expectations or just general procrastination, either way, you will have done your part to make sure that the delivery or customer service call goes smoothly.

Customers are usually ready to be annoyed with delivery and repair service, especially when they have to wait, so this little extra courtesy will go a long way towards making them feel that you are concerned.
