Is Your Teen Driving Drunk?

By Harriette Halepis

No parent wants to think of their teen driving a car while intoxicated. Yet, thousands of teenagers die in car crashes every year. That means that your teen may very well be drinking before driving. The problem is that preventing teens from having what they deem as “harmless fun” is no easy task.

What you don't know can hurt everyone!

What you don't know can hurt everyone!

Teens want the freedom to make mistakes, and why shouldn’t they have a bit of freedom? After all, most parents went through the same struggles while they were growing up. Is it possible to give your teen a bit of space while ensuring that they are safe?

Thanks to the dawn of the GPS tracking system, keeping your teen safe from drunk driving is easier now than it ever has been before. These tiny devices can be attached to your teen’s backpack of clothing. This way, if your teen winds up in a location that you don’t approve of, you can remove them from that situation almost immediately.

While some parents may consider tracking a teen with a GPS device a breach of privacy, knowing where your teen is at all times is the best way to keep them from drinking while driving. Of course, you can’t determine whether or not your teen has consumed alcohol, but you can determine whether or not your teen is where they claim to be.

Forget about following your teen all around town in your car. Instead, allow a small GPS tracker to do the dirty work for you. All you have to do is keep any eye on the movement of your teen. Tracking teens just may prevent teenage drunk driving from occurring.

Teen drivers are responsible for nearly 12% of all car accidents – most of these accidents involve alcohol. Not only are drunk drivers a hazard to others on the road, but they are also a hazard to themselves. Many teens wind up killing themselves by instigating a drunk driving accident.

Those that do not kill themselves often kill others instead. In either case, if you can keep your teen from harm then you will be doing the world a favour. Speak with your teen about drunk driving, tell them about the dangers of drinking before driving, and make sure to track their every move.

Is tracking your teen with a GPS tracker a violation of human rights? Not if it means keeping them (and others) safe. Driving should be a privilege for teens – not a way to push personal limits. Tracking your teen can keep them safe.

Teach Good Driving Habits with a Vehicle Tracking System

By Greg Bartlett

Teenage drivers are very important. Having a license gives teens the ability to drive themselves to work, take younger siblings to and from their extracurricular activities, and also gives their parents a break from driving them to and from friends’ houses.

But teenage drivers can also be a big source of stress and worry for their parents. Moms especially have a tendency to toss and turn at night until their children are safe at home. And with so many households having two parents that both work long hours, there is not much time left to teach their teenagers how to drive. Because of this, it is necessary that teaching time be maximized to its fullest potential so that the teenagers can be safe on the roads.

This is where a vehicle tracking system comes in. Once teenagers receive their license, it can be tempting to let some of their driving rules slide a bit, putting them and other people in danger. If a vehicle tracking system is installed in the vehicle that they will be using, their movements can be tracked.

This gives parents peace of mind in several areas. First, they know that their teenager cannot lie about his or her location. It is simple and fast to check the location of the vehicle at any time. This system will ensure that the parents have a good channel of communication and accountability with their teenagers.

Parents can also check up on their teenagers driving habits. A vehicle tracking system carefully and accurately records everywhere the vehicle goes, how fast it is moving, and where and how long it is parked. This can give parents a step by step view of their child’s entire day, including any stops that they did not inform their parents about. This will open the door for parents to discuss safe driving habits with their children. Parents will also be able to reprimand their teenagers when they have been speeding, because the rate of the vehicle is tracked right along with the location.

Of course this system is not absolutely fool proof. A teenager that knows he is being tracked can choose to park the car somewhere and walk or ride in someone else’s car so that it appears that he is following his parents’ rules. However, a vehicle tracking system will greatly benefit families and give parents peace of mind knowing that their children are safe drivers.

Is your Teen Driver Reckless?

By Greg Bartlett

Teen drivers: the bane of every parent. You debate not letting your teenagers get their licenses until they’re at least twenty, but at the same time, it is convenient to let them drive themselves to work, to school, to soccer practice, and to piano lessons. But how can you be sure that your teenagers are driving safely and that they are where they said they’d be? Just because they said they’d be studying at a friend’s house, does that mean they actually are? And just because they said they’d be careful, does that mean they are actually driving safely?

What you don't know can hurt everyone!

What you don't know can hurt everyone!

Teenagers are some of the most reckless drivers in the country. Each year, many teenagers are killed or injured in vehicle accidents. But the driver is not the only one to suffer – passengers, people in other cars, pedestrians, and family members can all be affected by your teenager’s reckless driving.

With GPS vehicle tracking, you can keep tabs on your teenagers and ensure that they are driving safely. One program is specifically designed to alert parents if teenagers are driving recklessly. The tracking device can detect the type of road, such as an interstate or back road, matches the speed of the car to the approximate speed that should be used based on the road type, and notifies parents if the teenager is speeding. Parents can also check to find out the location of the vehicle, and if the car is being driven after curfew, parents will be immediately notified. Teenagers also have access to a panic button in case the car breaks down or they need help but don’t have access to a cell phone. And if the teenager tries to turn off GPS vehicle tracking, then the parents will be notified.

Some GPS tracking devices can be set to notify you, the parent, whenever your child just goes outside of predetermined boundaries, while others are set to be less invasive and have more of a focus on just slowing teenage drivers down, only notifying you if the teenager is speeding or driving recklessly.

Monitoring your teenager driver is possible with GPS vehicle tracking. You can check to make sure that your teenagers are driving safely and responsibly, and that they are obeying your rules. If necessary, you can check on their location and make certain that they are where they’re supposed to be. Teenage drivers don’t have to be a nightmare. Safety, security, and peace of mind are available with GPS vehicle tracking.
