GPS Installation Tips

If you�re looking for GPS tracker installation tips, you�ve come to the right place. At RMT, our main goal is to make sure that your GPS tracker runs smoothly. Looking through these tips before you begin the installation process will ensure a swift and efficient installation.

Locating Constant Wires: constant wires (wires that receive constant power) can be found in a few different spots. In most vehicles, constant wires can be located behind the steering column. Sometimes, these wires can also be found behind the ignition plate, near power windows, and in other spots.

Stripping Wires: our installation guides will ask you to strip a portion of plastic coating from the constant wires. To do this, use the side of a sharp knife, and cut into the plastic that surrounds the constant wires. Make sure not to cut too deeply into the plastic, since this could sever the wires. Once you have cut the plastic adequately, strip the remaining portion of the plastic with your fingers.

Finding Kick Panels: kick panels are located to the right and to the left (respectively) of the passenger and driver side seats. These panels are secure to the floor of your vehicle with screws. Removing these screws will loosen the kick plates.

Removing Paint: use a metal paint scraper to remove any paint from your vehicle�s kick plates.

Making a T-Splice: to create a T-Splice, you will have to insert a small screwdriver into the center of the constant wires. Once split, these wires will form a distinct �T� shape. This is called a �T-Splice.�

Keep in mind that your vehicle should not be running during the installation process. If possible, work inside of a secure area that does not have any water damage. These optimal conditions will make installing your GPS tracker simple.
