Your RMT GPS Installation Guide

Use the following guide to install your hard-wired RMT GPS tracker. We’ve arranged this guide into a series of easy steps that should prove easy to follow. In most instances, a GPS tracker can be installed in less than one hour. If you are unfamiliar with wiring and mechanics, we recommend setting aside a two hour block of time to complete the installation process.

First, head to your local hardware store (or toolbox) to purchase the following items:

• Electrical Tape
• Soldering Iron
• Small Screwdriver
• Sharp Knife

Next, follow these steps:

• Locate your vehicle’s constant wires. These can usually be found behind the steering column or behind the ignition plate.
• Remove ½ inch of plastic coating from these wires. You should see copper wires once the plastic has been removed.
• Create a T-Splice.
• Solder the wires together with a soldering iron.
• Wrap wires in electrical tape, and connect these wrapped ends with the constant wire lead.
• Remove screws from your vehicle’s kick plates (pick a side). Secure constant wires to the metal floor using star washers.
• Place your GPS tracker in a secure area (under the dash is a good spot). Ensure that the tracker is facing upwards and that you can “see the sky” through this area (this will ensure good reception).
• Secure your GPS tracker with a mounting plate or harness.
