How to Uninstall a GPS Tracker

Sometimes, knowing how to uninstall a GPS tracker is just as useful as knowing how to install a GPS tracker. If you want to remove your current tracker in order to install another tracker, this guide will help. As with the installation process, uninstalling a GPS tracker should not take more than one hour. Please feel free to contact our technical support department if you have any questions.

WARNING: Do Not Rip a GPS Tracker From Your Vehicle. Doing So Could Result In Irreparable Damage To Your Vehicle. Use Wire Cutters Instead.

Step 1: Find the GPS tracker in question. If you installed this tracker, you should know where to look. If not, check behind the steering column.

Step 2: Look for a set of constant wires that have been spliced. You can then follow this spliced line up to the GPS tracking device.

Step 3: Using a pair of wire cutters, snip the power and ground wires that are running into your GPS tracking unit.

Step 4: Replace the steering column (or other piece).

Step 5: If the tracker came with an antenna, you can remove this as well. Look for an antenna underneath the dash or in another area of this sort. If you simply want to replace your current GPS tracking device, you may not need a new antenna.

Keep in mind that the adhesive from an antenna will wear off if an antenna is forcefully removed from a vehicle. If the adhesive no longer sticks, you can order a new antenna from RMT for a minimal price
