General Manager

General Manager Position Summary:

Reporting to the owners, the General Manager is responsible for the day-to-day activities of this successful GPS tracking services company. Primary responsibilities of this “hands-on” position include executing the business plan within budget, leading the sales and marketing functions to meet or exceed the planned growth, identifying growth opportunities for the business, and ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership and management of Sales, Operations and Finance functions and personnel

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Review, interpret and recommend action based upon analysis of Sales, Operations and / or financial reports
  • Create and refine business processes to improve Customer satisfaction and company profitability
  • Use critical thinking skills to solve problems and develop improvements across all business functions
  • Maintain highest ethical standards and expectations for company and employees
  • Establish and execute appropriate action based on needs of the business
  • Lead departments and employees in execution and improvement of business functions and activities
  • Other duties as defined

Responsibilities

    Sales & Marketing:

  • Identify new market segments and their product and service requirements
  • Oversees design, delivery, and quality of programs and services
  • Lead Sales team to perform at or above budgeted objectives
  • Monitor Leading Metrics and modify Sales activity accordingly to ensure product lines performance to budget
  • Oversee content, production and distribution of all marketing and Customer materials

    Operations:

  • Lead Customer support functions and personnel to provide excellent Customer service and satisfaction
  • Direct the Administrative and Operational IT activities, including establishing development priorities and meeting planned product and service release schedules
  • Manage inventory levels and Customer fulfillment processes
  • Deliver continuous Customer experience improvement while simultaneously reducing per unit costs

    Finance:

  • Develop new product and service line budgets
  • Develop annual budgets and KPI’s
  • Report business performance to the owners periodically
  • Maintain excellent cash flow management
  • Lead finance and accounting functions to facilitate good decision-making and adherence to GAAP

    Executive:

  • Stay abreast of current trends related to the organization’s products and services and anticipate future trends likely to have an impact on its performance
  • Provides prompt, thorough, and accurate information to keep the owners appropriately informed of the organization’s financial position
  • Maintain a high performance environment for the company’s employees

    Human Resources:

  • Recruitment and contracting of company and project staff
  • Employee development, and training
  • Policy development and documentation
  • Performance management and improvement systems
  • Competitive compensation and payroll management

Position Requirements

    Experience:

  • Minimum ten years progressively more significant broadly responsible roles including P&L
  • Sales, Marketing and/or Product Management experience with combined hardware, software and communications services, i.e. GPS, cellular services or similar
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Demonstrated superior people management skills and the ability to get the job done
  • Fortune 500 service sales and proposal development experience a plus
  • IT service delivery management experience a plus

    Skills and education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
  • Budget development and oversight experience
  • Ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively
